Creative photography London Ontario

Back at the beginning of the year when I saw about the popular Colour Run I knew that I wanted to do something with the coloured powder that is used. When I bought my car I found the perfect location and although it had overgrown a little we still make the most of the old decaying cars. I worked with a great team- Lily Black who is one of the most professional and talented models I've ever worked with, makeup by the amazing Shealee from Makeup and Visual Effects by Shealee, and Hair by the now Contessa Award winning Amanda Rendell at Studio H. 

Rock the Prom dress

I had put out the call that I wanted a Trash the Dress for my portfolio and Devin answered saying that she didn't have a wedding dress, but a couple of prom dresses. I thought it was a great idea because really it's the same kind of idea, we wear the dress once then it sits getting crushed in the wardrobe for years not having anymore life put back into it. So that is what we did, took her prom dresses for a spin, I'd love to do more and I'm thinking that the beach back on the Central Coast of New South Wales would make for some great rock the prom dress photography!

James Dean inspired shoot

As i mentioned in my Marylin post, I had decided I would do a series on young, dead celebrities. I can't say I came up with the idea to do that because, really, it's been done before but these people were such an inspiration to now so many generations of people that of course it has all been done. One of my favourite quotes which I have hanging on my mirror at home is 'Art is either evolution or revolution'. When searching for models to do these shoots with I headed over to trusty Model Mayhem, a lot of people talk about having bad experiences with models, or from the other side with photographers, but I have only had one time when a model didn't turn up for a shoot and I put this down to choosing the models wisely and keeping up a good amount of contact.

My James Dean is a London model who has been photographed by some amazing photographers both in Canada and in Italy where he spent some time modelling so I felt very privileged when he said he would help me out with my little project. He definitely was the perfect one for the job and after doing the plain backdrop James Dean inspired shots we snapped a few extras influenced by high fashion looks.

Memory Mondays Week 13

Vinyl records, bus transfers, random laundry socks and Ja Rule.

What do these things have in common? The story starts a few years ago.

During the first year at art school you are made to do a course from all of the different disiplines (2d, 3d and Photography) and it was during that time that I discovered that I really liked 3d fiber art, I especially liked bringing different techniques together to make something new out of something old. For the 9 months that I was living in Halifax I found unwanted or discarded objects on the ground and kept them, brought them together and made something new out of it.

The first piece titled 'transfer' I made was of all of the bus transfers I had collected, stuck them to some board and wrapped it around a telegraph pole near a bus stop. The second piece (which I unfortunately do not have photographs of) titled 'socks socks socks socks socks socks' was of all of the random socks that had ended up in my laundry or that had been left behind in the laundry room of our apartment building and that piece was placed in the laundry room itself. The third piece titled 'Lost and found' was of all of the random peices I had found and collated together by color or theme and glued them to a huge canvas and placed in on one of the main roads.
