Christmas/ Winter themed engagement session

Merry Christmas! I hope that if you do happen to be reading this on Christmas day that it is with chocolate in your mouth and your smelling the lovely smells of dinner being cooked. I met Stephanie and Skyler to speak about their wedding next year and Stephanie and I found so many things in common like our love of crafts and DIY (check out her awesome blog here), dogs, vintage and all things cute, fun and lovely. I think those last few words really describe Stephanie and Skyler's engagement shoot with props by Found Decor Company, as well and some of their personal items. The snow looked like a winter wonderland and it made for a very fun (albeit cold) shoot.

Awesome Mondays part 27

Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas! I'm happy knowing that many of these awesome seniors portraits will be sitting of shelves of loving family this holiday season.

The following shots were taken at The Alzheimer Outreach centre, with Hair by Mallory and Makeup by Michelle

Just look at this gentleman's eyes. A lot of people say that they eyes are the window to the soul and I think that the kindness in these eyes speaks volumes over any words I could say, but we did have a great chat and I even got a hug at the end of it! He was in the army, he told me he was in Germany and jumped out of planes with a parachute. He got married in 1950 and met her at a dance, he saw her her from across the room and asked her to dance and then didn’t let her go. Said his secret to long marriage was not to drink alcohol.

While this lovely lady was having her hair done she said ‘I just can’t move its too comfortable’. She also told me that she was enjoying the summer and when it came time to taking her photo, ‘I act like a clown but don’t want to look like one’. Another great quote from her was ‘My hair is like me, it does what it wants.’

Bob told me to just keep smiling. I hope that some of these photos have brought a smile to your face! Enjoy spending time with your loved ones and be sure to take lots of photos with your relatives!

Tis the time for sharing..

It's been awhile since I had a competition, and I've been thinking about this one for awhile, and thought the Christmas is the perfect time!
I love when I go into a clients home and they show me a print or album that they have made from the photos I had taken for them. I am old-school in that i think prints will last forever whereas photos on a hard-drive, your great grandchildren are never going to see. I'm starting to include more print and album options in my business and I'm really excited about two options in particular- fine art paper and metallic.
This Christmas, I want you to share with me how you have displayed photos I have taken for you- examples, how to enter and what you win below.

A canvas hanging at home by Amanda

A painting made from a photo I took from Jaimie

Table number cards at a wedding made from the engagement photos by Jessie

How to Enter: Take a photo of where you have a photograph I have taken for you displayed. Email me the image at erin@erinwoodgatephotography.com with 'Competition' in the subject line and on Christmas eve I will put them all into a folder on my facebook group and randomly select a winner using random.org. No votes or shares I'm just excited to see what you have done with the photos I've taken.

What you win: One winner will get a fine art paper/Metallic print of their choice printed (size up to 11x14/12x12). Everyone else who enters will lock in 2013 prices for their next shoot.

What are you waiting for, take your phone, take a photo and send it to me!
